Healthy Strawberry Icecream – not only in summer

It is not a joke that my friends sometimes call me Strawberry-Queen ๐Ÿ‘‘ because my addiction to the little red fruits is incredible. I cannot blame them for giving me this nickname because they are right. But what does the ๐Ÿ“Strawberry-Queen in winter โ„๏ธ(since she lives in cold Germany)???๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

Fresh strawberries ๐Ÿ˜ are at first imported from other countries far away. Buying these would would be a hit in the face of the environment. We often forget about the distances and emission when we go shopping but we really should.๐ŸŒณ

Secondly they usually do not taste as good as the fresh German ones in summer. They are hard and untasty.IMG_8925

So I decided to eat frozen  strawberries but I realized that the aroma is not comparable to my beloved strawberries in summer…๐Ÿ˜ช

This is why I came up with the idea of using the frozen strawberries I bought for something else.๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ญ

Another thing I like to eat every day because it is not complicate to get it in every season is low-fat quark. It is delicious, packed with proteins and you can do so many things with it!๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚

For example the best strawberry ice cream ๐Ÿ“in the world:
No sugar, almost no fat, lots of protein and healthy. But the most important: onolicious.๐Ÿ˜‹

If you wonder about this phrase I will tell you that it is Hawaiian for especially delicious. I learned it last year (O gosh, I still need to get used to it that 2015 is over now) when we were in Hawaii.๐ŸŒบ By the way are you interested in a blogpost about my stay on Big Island? But now I won’t stop you from trying this amazing๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ recipe…

Ingredients:
(For one serving)

150 g frozen strawberries
2-3 tbs. low-fat quark or
2-3 tbs. Stevia

Put the strawberries into a bowl, add the sweetener (I like to use natreen stevia but you can use any sweetener of your choice with a similar consistency) and the quark. Use a hand blender to mix everything until it is soft and creamy as ice cream should be๐Ÿฆ. Serve or eat immediately before it melts!๐Ÿ˜‰

As a topping I like to use dark chocolate rasps๐Ÿซ or if it is for breakfast oats. Yes, I eat ice cream for breakfast – even in winter along with a huge mug of tea โ˜•๏ธ.
You can also use coconutflakes or branflakes which I recommend, too. But you do not need a topping. I rarely use it but I thought it looks nicer on the blog๐Ÿ™ˆ. It tastes so good and it is so good for you too!๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผ

Spicy Red Chicken With Green Tagliatelle

Do you know those things you keep eating even though you are already satisfied?
This is one of these foods, some careful๐Ÿ˜‚
And a great merit is that it’s done in less then 20 minutes!โŒš๏ธ

For 4 persons:

400 g green pasta (tagliatelle; spinach flavored)
500 g chicken breast
20 g butter
2 onions
2 spoons flour of your choice
2 spoons tomato paste
2 tsp green (or black) pepper
1 bunch of chives
1/4 l broth of your choice
A bit salt

1. Put the pasta into a pot and start to cook in salted water them until even.

2. Cut the chicken into thin slices and roast them in a pan with the butter.

3. Dice the onions and add them to the chicken. Now you can add some pepper and salt.

4. Dust the flour over it, sweat it shortly, add the tomato paste and the broth and cook it for five minutes.

5. Hack the pepper and add it. Heat it up for one short moment again and sprinkle the chives on top of it!

๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ Those who don’t like spicy food as much as I do should stir in some low-fat quark๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ

You can also replace the pasta with cauliflower which I like to do sometimes. But try the green tagliatelle first!๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿผ

Spectacular Speculoos Cake

A few days ago I had a funny evening with my mother. We enjoyed sitting in our living room after dinner and enjoyed the warmth of our fireplace when I started craving for some biscuits.๐Ÿช
Mum got some from a friend who lives in Brussel.๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช

As you see it says “Speculoos” on the super cute box ๐Ÿ’•of Maison and Dandoy’s. So my mum said I can open it and eat them since she is tired of all the Speculoos around Christmas and so she went away to get herself another mug of tea.
So that’s what I did. But when I opened the box there were delicious biscuits of all kinds inside:๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I could barely stop myself from trying all the different great treats. When she came back almost 1/3 of the biscuits had already passed away (mysterious circumstances).๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚

In the end she changed her mind about being tired of these biscuits and we shared them.โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

Can you ever be tired of biscuits?๐Ÿ’ค

Well, maybe of those typical Christmas flavored like gingerbread and Speculoos which are typical to have around Christmas in Germany๐ŸŽ„.

But what to do with the leftovers?๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ˜ฐ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

One of my favourite cakes a round Christmas is “Speculoos Cake”.๐Ÿ˜‹ Even when you think you are tired of Speculoos you will change your mind as soon as you try this. It’s different from plain Speculoos because it’s kinda refreshing because of the topping.๐Ÿฐ
And another huge merit: it’s a no-bake cake and quickly done.โŒš๏ธ

So here’s the recipe:

1. Ingredients for the base:

300 g Speculoos
100 g butter

Instructions:

Put 280 g of the Speculoos into a bag and use your rolling pin to crash them. Melt the butter and mix the crumbles with it.
Press the dough into a baking pan.

2. Ingredients for the mass:

250 g low-fat quark
250 g low-fat cream cheese
125 g sugar (or sweetener of your choice)
8 g vanilla sugar
5 leaves of gelatine (or agar agar)

optional: 1/4 l whipped cream

Instructions:

Mix the quark and the cream cheese until smooth. Add the sugars (sweeteners). Gently fold I the whipped cream if you want it extra creamy.
Let the leaves of gelatine (agar agar) swell up in some water (check the directions on the packaging) in a seperate bowl.
Now add one spoon of the mass to the gelatine and stir it in. Now put the gelatine into the big bowl with the rest of the mass spoon by spoon and fold it under.
Now you need to pour the mass onto the base and sprinkle out the crumbles of the leftover Speculoos (~20g) on top of it.
Put the cake into the fridge for at least 2 hours. (I like to leave it in the fridge overnight).

It is done so quickly. But waiting for the cake to get the right consistency is hard.

This cake is very satisfying, so you don’t have to worry about the calories, since I have never seen anyone eating more than two or maybe three pieces, which really isn’t the taste’s fault. It tastes like heaven!๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Paris – le guide culinare franรงois

Paris.ย The French food is really worth a try. Not only the sweet and well-known food like crรชpes and croissants are excellent, but also lunch and dinner.

In the morning French people usually only have a croissant or a baguette. Lunch isn’t much too, but dinner which is hold late can take several hours and consists of several courses.

Here is my Top 10 of food and places you need to to try when you are in France: ๐Ÿฝ ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

1. Crรชpes – you might already know them, but usually they are sold with chocolate spread or jam in most countries. You really should go to a real “Crรชperie” where you can choose between sweet and salty Crรชpes. Usually the salty ones are made with whole wheat floor. I really recommend “Saint Jaques” which is a salty crรชpe with fish, oysters, shrimps and salmon. But if you don’t like fish they also sell Crรชpes with sausages, eggs or schnitzels. 2. Sneals – Many restaurants only offer French menus, so you might have to look for “escargots” to find this delicious food. I really recommend trying them, maybe as a starter before dinner, because they taste very good and you don’t need to fear them. Many people are afraid of eating them, because they fear their consistency. But there is no need to be scared: they have the same consistency as meat and taste like mushrooms. Just give it a try!๐Ÿ˜‰

3. Macaroons – this treat has become very popular over the last few years. It’s a treat which can be bought as a souvenir too. You will find lots of shops which sell them. I really recommend the pink ones (fraise๐Ÿ“ or framboise/ strawberry or raspberry ) but there are many different flavours like pistachios, lemon-truffel, chocolate, coffee, peanut,… So if you try one and you don’t like it, try another color!๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผโค๏ธ๐Ÿ“image

4. Chichis – in Spain they are also known well as “Churros”. You can buy them on the Christmas markets โ„๏ธ to have something traditional because they don’t sell burned almonds like you are used to them, only peanuts… I personally don’t like Chichis which are thick fried dough coated with sugar or dipped in chocolate๐Ÿซ

5. Cheesecake Framboise – okay, okay, I have to admit that this is nothing French, but I ate it almost everyday at Starbucks so it deserves a place under the Top 10 here๐Ÿ˜‚. If you want something different from croissants for breakfast but still something sweet or just want to sit down in the afternoon step by at Starbucks and try this Cheesecake with raspberries.๐Ÿฐimage

6. Baguette – is often called French sandwiches in Paris so don’t complain if you order a sandwich and get a Babette instead. French people often have this for lunch because of there huge dinners. In my opinion the best baguettes can be found at crosscroute.๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

7. French Dinner – Now I don’t mention food but a restaurant. This restaurant is a great one where you can order exclusive meals for little money. I recommend “Civet de Marcassin aux airelles,purรฉe de patate douche” which is shout filet with mashed sweet potatoes. In General you will find a lot of game on the menu, but also seafood and vegetarian plates.๐Ÿ’•Click here for the menu

8. Brasserie – again this is not food, but you will find those little bistros them all over the place. You can sit outside (even in December, because they heat them very well) and enjoy almost every French kind of food. 9. Formage – traditionally French people eat cheese as a dessert after their huge dinners. You can order plates with different sorts of cheese in almost every French restaurant๐Ÿง€Quesos diferentes variedades - Different cheeses varieties

10. Frog’s legs – it’s very difficult to find a place to eat them because the French people are usually cooking them at home. Unfortunately I couldn’t try them, but next time I definitely will! They are supposed to taste like chicken, so don’t be afraid of trying them!๐Ÿธ

Paris – Bonne Annรฉe

Paris.๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท Discovering new places has always been one of my favorite occupations. Here is a short review how to spend an amazing time in the city of love. ๐Ÿ’•

A great area to stay is Palais Royal. From there you can reach almost everything without using the Metro or the bus.๐Ÿ˜Š Exploring a city is an advantage because you get a better idea of the charge of the city and you see things you would have missed otherwise. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผ
Here is a Top 10 of places you should have been to if you ever go to Paris in Winterโ„๏ธ:

1. Louvre – the architecture of the building itself is even more impressing than the paintings inside. A part of it is modern but it also consists of three old palaces. Especially at night the Louvre is a beautiful sight from the outside too๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒšโœจ

2. Champs ร‰lysรฉs – here you find nice stores like Hilfiger, Long Champ, Abercrombie, Tiffany & Co,… But also a mall if the weather is too bad.โ„๏ธ Here is where people meet to celebrate New Yearโœจ Because of the recent events the firework had been canceled last/this year but there was a light show at the…๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

3. Arc de Triomphe – I even prefer the view you have when you go on top of it to the one you have if you climb the Eiffeltower, because your panorama contains the most famous sight of Paris (the Eiffeltower) from here๐Ÿ˜‰

4. Village de Noรซl – this is a lovely Christmas market which is placed at the Champs รˆlysรจs until 10th January. You missed going to a Christmas market because of the busy advent? Make it up in Paris and try “Chichis” or a crรชpe with speculoos cream. You shouldn’t eat what you think are burned almonds there because they are peanuts in fact.๐ŸŽ„

5. Eiffeltower – of course the Top 10 needs to contain this sight. But it shouldn’t be on top because in my opinion there are better things to see. If you want to climb it you should book tickets five days in advance. But you still need to bring time with you๐Ÿ™ˆ In winter it is possible to go ice-skating next to it โ›ธ

6. Royal Opera – if you like operas you really should book tickets for a performance. Otherwise you can go inside and visit the incredible building itself๐Ÿ˜ป

7. Gallerie Lafayette – this is a luxury mall where you can find everything. Especially the accessories department with all its bags and the food hall are impressive. In Winter you should take a glance at the Christmas Decorations tooโญ๏ธ

8. Printemps – if you are impressed by the decorations of Galerie Lafayette this mall and it’s shopping Windows will even top it. Print emus just celebrated their 150th anniversary. So it’s a mall with tradition ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐ŸŽŠ

9. Norte Dame – This church is the one where Jesus’ crown is restored. It’s shown seldom, but around this time of the year you might be lucky.โ›ช๏ธ

10. Montmatre – here you will find the carousel from the world-famous film
“The fabulous World of Amelie” and the cafe where the film had been filmed. Bu more important is Sacre Cล“r another church you should have been too.๐Ÿ˜„

Of course there are many beautiful places I haven’t listed up here. But you can’t see everything in Paris even if you spend a whole year there. ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

I am definitely going to Paris again.
